Blown film startup: checks and operating workflow
A practical overview of material checks, machine preparation, controlled startup and production records.
Before startup
Confirm the resin grade, formulation and required film dimensions. Check utilities, cooling, lubrication and ventilation. Keep the die and web path clear, and confirm that guards, emergency stops and interlocks are functioning.
Heating and preparation
Use the temperature settings and thermal stabilisation procedure specified for the machine and resin. Soak times and air pressures depend on the equipment and process; a single fixed value does not apply to every line. Check the temperature indications and alarms.
Controlled trial run
Trained operators should follow the machine-specific startup sequence and threading method. Stay clear of hot surfaces and moving nip points. Do not bypass guards or feed film by hand into running nips.
Stable production
Establish stable extrusion, inflation, cooling, haul-off and winding. Inspect film thickness, layflat width, appearance and roll quality. Record resin batches and settings. Follow the prescribed shutdown procedure if temperature, pressure or machine behaviour becomes abnormal.
